Silly verse about living here

I dwell among the elderly,
A fact that tests me greatly.
I once enjoyed debauchery
But now live quite sedately.

For this is not a frivolous place
And not a lightweight crowd.
They frown on much hilarity
And don’t play music loud.

They are, in fact, quite cranky
And quite often, when they chat,
They tell the faults they find with this
Or detriments of that.

Finding fault with all the world,
They travel through the day.
It seems a shame that they must fuss
And carry on that way.

And this behavior I report
To you ‘cause I’m explaining
What one observes when living here,
But I am NOT complaining.

Introduction

I'm living in a rather small retirement home that costs an extraodinary amount of money. I don't know what I'm ultimately going to do, because I don't bring in nearly the amount of money it costs to live here, but yet I guess I really can't take care of my self anymore, so I'll probably have to locate a cheaper retirement home.
I just sold my condo (which makes me sad, because it means that I've agreed to never living on my own again), but which is also a great relief, because it buys me a little time in which I can continue to live here before I go broke.

Life with MS

I've always been quite independant. I've always wanted to do things MY way, and I've always been sure I that I know better than anyone else what should be done in any given situation. Imagine then my great frustration at finding myself in a nursing home situation where I'm not in charge of ANYTHING - not what time I get up or go to bed or eat or bathe - ANYTHING. Although, actually, I guess I exaggerate. I do have long periods of time in which I don't need to conduct any of the basic activities of daily life and the "Caregivers" ignore me. (Unless I call for them, in which case they take their time getting here.)
I just had a perfect example of frustrsion happen. It all centers around he fact that the people who work here don't respect the residents as thinking human beings. It got to be 8:30 this morning and nobody had showed up to get me up. TnOT
